Councillor Information

Town and Parish Councils are made up of councillors who are elected by the public in local elections every four years.  The last local elections were May 2023. There are fifteen seats on Billingham Town Council.

The role of a councillor is to serve and represent everyone in the ward that they are elected to.  Councillors collectively decide and prioritise the nature of the activities that their council will undertake, including determining the annual precept and how facilities and services will be provided.  They are also an advocate for residents, signposting them to the right people at the right council for help, and keeping people informed on issues which affect them.   The role is voluntary and unpaid.
