Youth Council

Billingham Youth Council

We were delighted to launch Billingham Youth Council at our AGM on 28th May 2013. We have several enthusiastic and dedicated young members who attend every meeting with fantastic ideas for Billingham.

The Youth Council are currently working on their Beautiful Billingham Campaign with aims of tidying up Billingham all round. They are focusing on vandalism, dog fouling, litter campaigns and a community garden project.

As well as their Beautiful Billingham Campaign, the Youth Council will shortly be running a Recruitment Campaign. If you are interested in becoming a member, or know somebody who is, see below to learn the role of a Youth Councillor and send us an email explaining why you would like to be a Youth Councillor.

The Role of a Youth Councillor is:

  • To seek out views and opinions held by other young people by meeting with them, and undertaking surveys
  • Represent the views to others and wider audiences
  • Be aware and raise issues that affect young people locally and nationally
  • Work alongside adults, decision makers and providers of services (such as health, leisure & education) to get young people's voices heard
  • Make contact with local youth groups/forums
